30s Man Accused of Killing 3 Family Members in Yangcheon-gu, Detained and Indicted

Prosecution Applies Charges of Murder and Killing of a Lineal Ascendant

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] A man in his 30s accused of killing his parents and older brother in an apartment in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, has been arrested and indicted.

The Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 20th that Kim (31) was arrested and indicted on charges of parricide and murder on the 19th.

According to the prosecution, Kim is accused of stabbing and killing his cohabiting family members?his biological parents and older brother?one by one with a weapon he had prepared in advance at his residence on February 10.

Immediately after the crime, at around 6:50 a.m., he called 119 and reported that he had "killed three people." The police, notified by the fire department, arrived at the scene, but the family members were already deceased upon arrival.

The prosecution stated, "After the transfer, we conducted thorough supplementary investigations including internet search history, psychiatric evaluation, and integrated psychological tests to clearly determine the motive, premeditation, and any mental disorders before indicting."
