The Chonnam National University Library is recruiting reading clubs as part of the 'Gwangju-Jeonnam Reads and Talks' project to create a cultural community where Gwangju and Jeonnam city and provincial residents and university members read the same book together and share thoughts and opinions.
The reading clubs will consist of 4 to 10 members, recruiting 20 teams of students and 100 teams of local residents by May 29.
Anyone, including Gwangju and Jeonnam city and provincial residents and university students, can participate for free through online application.
Detailed information can be found on the 'Gwangju-Jeonnam Talk' website.
Reading club members will be provided with the 'Book of the Year' free of charge to use for reading discussions, and various benefits such as library use and participation in the 'One Book Literary Tour' will be offered.
Chonnam National University selects the 'Book of the Year' annually and contributes to forming a cultural community that reads and communicates with local residents through various programs such as the One Book Exchange Exhibition, Themed Book Exhibitions, Author Invitation One Book Talk Concerts, One Book Literary Tours, and Reading Review Contests.
Library Director Jang Woo-kwon said, "We will actively support reading club activities so that Gwangju and Jeonnam city and provincial residents can enjoy a reading culture life that communicates and empathizes together."
