Muan-gun Supplies Exclusive Packaging Materials for Mudflat Octopus

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County in Jeonnam has supported dedicated packaging materials to increase the income of fishermen in celebration of the spring season for Muan mudflat octopus.

The county supplied 86,000 dedicated packaging materials and 27,000 ice packs to 400 fishing households in 28 fishing villages producing octopus.

This support is expected to greatly assist fishermen in nationwide delivery order sales, timed perfectly with the peak octopus production season.

Park Hong-yang, Director of the Marine Fisheries Division, said, "Since 2007, we have been supporting dedicated octopus packaging materials to implement a differentiation strategy from other regions," adding, "We will strive to preserve the reputation and brand value of mudflat octopus."

Meanwhile, Muan mudflat octopus is known for its tender texture and excellent umami flavor, having grown in clean mudflats rich in germanium. The county reported that approximately 2.36 million octopuses were caught last year.
