[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam Province has decided to distribute rapid antigen self-test kits free of charge to infection-vulnerable groups.
On the 20th, Jinju City announced measures to prevent the spread of infection following the Central Disease Control Headquarters' announcement to suspend personal rapid antigen testing at public health center screening clinics and temporary screening sites.
The city will distribute self-test kits free of charge to ensure rapid testing for users of child protection institutions and elderly welfare facilities, who have low immunity levels and are easily exposed to infection risks due to group living.
The targets include 10 childcare centers, 11 disability organizations, 21 disability welfare facilities, 4 elderly customized care service agencies, as well as self-support centers and welfare centers.
Jinju City plans to provide 43,000 test kits to 11,000 people by the end of this month.
A city official said, “We expect that free support will reduce the burden of purchasing self-diagnosis kits for infection-vulnerable groups and enable rapid response through voluntary preemptive testing.”
