[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] An elderly woman in her 80s suspected of having a cerebral infarction was urgently transported by the Jeju Coast Guard from Chuja Island, Jeju City.
According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 20th, at around 12:05 a.m. that day, a report was received that Ms. A (female in her 80s, resident of Chuja) on Hoenggando, Chuja Island, Jeju City, needed to be transported to a medical institution due to difficulty breathing and decreased consciousness.
Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched a 500-ton patrol vessel patrolling the nearby waters, and at 2:04 a.m., took over the emergency patient Ms. A and her guardian Mr. B, a total of two people, from the Chuja civilian marine rescue team vessel A, then urgently transported them to Jeju Port.
The Coast Guard arrived at Jeju Port at around 4:14 a.m. and safely handed them over to the waiting 119 ambulance team.
Meanwhile, this year, the Jeju Coast Guard has transported a total of 7 emergency patients from Chuja Island using patrol vessels; in 2021, 32 patients; and in 2020, 70 emergency patients from Chuja Island were transported.
