원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min, who challenged the People Power Party's gubernatorial primary in Gyeonggi Province, said on the 20th, "I think Yunsim (President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's intention) will consider the candidate who wins the general election as being on his side."
Former lawmaker Yoo appeared on KBS Radio's Choi Kyung-young's "Choi Kang Sisa" program that day and stated, "The Gyeonggi Province governor election has come to seem like it will determine the overall outcome of the local elections."
He said, "Looking at the National Assembly, the Democratic Party holds 180 seats and will monopolize the Assembly for the next two years. When the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is launched, it will need the people's support, and I think the Gyeonggi Province governor election is a barometer for that. I believe the president-elect would naturally want a candidate who can win the general election," he emphasized.
Former lawmaker Yoo stressed that he is a competitive candidate for the general election.
He said, "In the general election, wouldn't the residents of Gyeonggi Province want a capable and reliable governor who can solve their problems and those of their families? I have been in politics for 23 years, and while I have worked hard on politics, I have also earnestly considered and prepared alternatives for policy issues such as the economy, welfare, security, housing, and transportation more than anyone else. I think the residents of Gyeonggi Province will pay considerable attention to those aspects," he said.
Former lawmaker Yoo appealed, "Since opinion polls will be conducted today and tomorrow, please answer calls coming from 02 or 070 numbers a lot."
