[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 20th that it will operate the 2022 Resident Participatory Budget School touring through towns and townships until June to help local residents understand budget management and to revitalize the resident participatory budgeting system for the development of the county.
The Budget School will be conducted in a lecture format by professional instructors for town and township resident participatory budget regional meetings, heads of institutions and social organizations, village chiefs, and local residents, covering ▲county financial status ▲understanding and operation status of the resident participatory budgeting system ▲participation methods.
Previously, the county signed a business agreement with the professional educational institution, the Regional Future Research Institute, to activate the resident participatory budgeting system and ensure substantial operation of the Budget School.
This year’s operation of the resident participatory budgeting system plans to receive ▲county policy projects for overall county development ▲regional development proposal projects at the town and township level ▲youth-led youth development proposal projects, and after final review by the resident participatory budgeting organization, reflect them in the 2023 budget.
A county official said, “We ask for the active interest and participation of the residents in establishing the resident participatory budgeting system, where residents become the main agents of administration and their voices are reflected in the budget.”
