The opening ceremony began with a pungmul performance by the Jeonju Hanok Village Nongak Troupe, followed by a plaque ribbon-cutting, monument unveiling, car donation ceremony, commemorative speech by Jeon Young-bae, congratulatory remarks by Mayor Kim Seung-su, and a celebratory rice cake cutting.
The Jeonju branch of the Korea Senior Citizens Association relocated the Senior Citizens' Center from the old and cramped Hyoja-dong building to a more accessible and comfortable area near Jinbuk-dong to establish a hub for senior welfare in the aging society.
The new Senior Citizens' Center, built with a total budget of 6.2 billion KRW, has a total floor area of 4,023.82㎡ and consists of one basement floor and eight above-ground floors.
The 1st to 3rd floors house the Senior University, auditorium, and multipurpose rooms; the 4th floor contains the Senior Employment Support Center; and the 5th to 7th floors are allocated for the Multicultural Family Support Center.
Meanwhile, Jeonju City plans to support healthy senior living by providing jobs for the elderly and operating various educational programs through the modernized and comfortable Senior Citizens' Center.
