Byeongno Lee, Democratic Party of Korea, Preliminary Candidate for Damyang County Governor.

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Lee Byeongno, a preliminary candidate for Damyang County Governor from the Democratic Party of Korea, announced on the 20th that he passed the screening by the Democratic Party of Korea Jeonnam Provincial Party Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee on the 19th and was confirmed as a primary candidate.

The Democratic Party of Korea Jeonnam Provincial Party Public Office Election Candidate Recommendation Management Committee decided on the 19th to hold a primary election for Damyang County Governor candidates among three candidates: Lee Byeongno, Kim Jeongo, and Choi Hwasam.

The final candidate will be decided by combining 50% of the votes from party members with voting rights and 50% from general public opinion polls.

Since officially declaring his candidacy on the 22nd of last month with the statement, “I want to be the seed that designs a new Damyang,” candidate Lee Byeongno has been leading a policy-driven election by continuously presenting pledges that include a future blueprint for Damyang.

In particular, leveraging his 40 years of administrative experience, he has continuously proposed systematic and future-oriented policy pledges, emphasizing his strengths as a “prepared candidate for Damyang County Governor.”

Candidate Lee Byeongno, confirmed as a primary candidate on this day, stated, “I respect the decision made by our Democratic Party of Korea Jeonnam Provincial Party Public Office Candidate Recommendation Committee after a transparent and fair screening process,” and added, “Now, I will officially begin the journey to ‘build a new Damyang’ by gathering the will of Democratic Party members and the 50,000 residents of the county.”

He continued, “As a verified administrative expert, I will conduct an election that presents a future blueprint for Damyang rather than engaging in negativity,” and appealed for active support by saying, “With leadership based on inclusion and innovation, I will surely achieve a great transformation of ‘Cheonnyeon Damyang,’ the Republic of Korea’s representative ecological city.”

Meanwhile, during his over 40 years of public service, former Director Lee has been recognized as an outstanding administrative expert by planning and promoting policies closely related to the lives of residents, such as Metaprovence, general industrial complexes, and advanced cultural complex districts, achieving significant results.

Born in Jukrim Village, Bonghwang-ri, Geumseong-myeon, he took his first step into public service in 1980 and served as Damyang County Geumseong-myeon Chief, Director of Agricultural Food Distribution, Head of Autonomous Administration, Head of Investment Attraction Team, Director of Resident Welfare, and the first Director of Autonomous Innovation Bureau of Damyang County.

He has also received awards such as the Order of Civil Merit (Presidential Award), Commendation for Exemplary Public Official (Prime Minister’s Award), Person Who Shined in Gwangju and Jeonnam in 2018, and Korea New Knowledge Person in 2019.
