"Wear Our Taegeuk Mark!" ... Changwon University Table Tennis Team's 'Kim Go-eun · No Pureum' Selected for Summer Universiade National Team

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Kim Go-eun and Noh Pureum, senior players of the Changwon University Table Tennis Team, have been selected as national representatives for the 31st Summer Universiade.


The 31st Summer Universiade (U Games) will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, from June 26 to July 7.


Kim Go-eun and Noh Pureum participated in the U Games table tennis national team selection competition held at Jecheon Gymnasium, Chungbuk, from the 14th to the 17th.


The selection competition was conducted by awarding the Taegeuk mark to the top three men and women respectively, through league and tournament matches among all players who participated in the individual singles.


Both players advanced to the tournament as number one in their groups by winning all their preliminary matches, and progressed through the rounds of 64, 32, 16, and 8 to reach the semifinals together.


In the semifinals, Kim Go-eun defeated Kim Myung-seon of Yongin University 3-0 to advance to the finals first, while Noh Pureum from the opposite tournament bracket defeated Kim Si-on of Cheongju University to reach the finals.


In the final, Kim Go-eun won against Noh Pureum 3-1 to claim the individual singles championship, and both players secured the right to participate in the U Games.


This event was held concurrently with the 40th Korea University Table Tennis Federation Championship, where a total of 14 university teams competed.


Changwon University showcased their skills in all events with medals at stake, achieving back-to-back victories in the women's team and individual doubles events for the second consecutive year.


In the women's team semifinals, Changwon University fought a close match against Gunsan University until the last game, winning 3-2 to advance to the finals.


In the final against Yongin University, the doubles pair Noh Pureum and Do Min-ji secured the first victory, followed by singles wins from Noh Pureum and Kim Go-eun, clinching the championship with a 3-0 score.


Three pairs who participated in the women's individual doubles advanced to the semifinals, with the pair Park Heon-min and Kim Go-eun winning the championship, Noh Pureum and Do Min-ji finishing as runners-up, and Kang Eun-ji and Jang Yoon-seo taking third place.


Coach Oh Yoon-kyung was recognized for her leadership and received the Best Coach Award at this competition.


Coach Oh said, “I want to express my gratitude to the players who demonstrated their best performance.”
