[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jeong-wan] A woman in her early 20s has filed a complaint claiming that she was sexually assaulted for several years by the father of a friend who was a school shuttle van driver since she was in high school, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

According to the Daejeon Western Police Station on the 19th, Ms. A, in her early 20s, filed a complaint through her lawyer that morning against Mr. B, a man in his 50s, on five charges including statutory rape under the Child and Youth Protection Act.

Ms. A's lawyer stated, "Since March 2017, when Ms. A was a second-year high school student, she was sexually assaulted by Mr. B, the shuttle van driver she used for commuting." Mr. B is known to be the father of Ms. A's friend.

The lawyer further claimed, "The perpetrator Mr. B lured the victim to an apartment shopping area by saying he would introduce a professor he knew to help with university admission, and committed the first sexual crime. He also took photos to prevent her from reporting it."

The lawyer added, "Mr. B threatened to distribute nude photos and sexually assaulted her about 20 times until early last year. The crimes continued not only during her high school years but also after she became an adult."

In particular, Mr. B reportedly dragged Ms. A to a van and motels dozens of times to commit the crimes.

Mr. B had no contact from June last year for a while but approached Ms. A again in February this year by sending photos. Ms. A decided to report to the police, saying, "I can no longer endure this."

Ms. A's lawyer urged, "Since a minor was made a sex slave, the crime is serious, and there may be other victims, so a thorough police investigation is necessary."

A police official who received the complaint said they plan to conduct investigations of both the complainant and the accused according to relevant procedures. They also plan to expand the investigation to female students who used Mr. B's shuttle vehicle.

The police will proceed with the investigation according to relevant procedures, including questioning the complainant and the accused.
