[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 20th that it signed an "Agreement to Participate in the ACI New Certification Program for Educational Institutions" at the headquarters of the Montreal International Airport Council (ACI) in Canada on the 19th local time.
ACI is an international organization representing the interests of 1,950 airports operated by 717 member companies in 185 countries worldwide, promoting sustainable development. Since receiving ACI's airport education cooperation program certification, the "ACI Global Training Hub," in 2008, the Corporation's Talent Development Institute has hosted and operated educational courses for over a decade, training numerous aviation experts.
In response to the post-COVID-19 era, ACI has completely revamped the qualification and management system for airport education institutions to improve operational efficiency, promote revenue generation, and activate course development, introducing a new certification program for educational institutions.
Through this agreement, the Corporation's Talent Development Institute will be the first among ACI partner educational institutions to participate in the new certification program. Based on this agreement, both organizations plan to expand educational projects and improve profitability through strengthened cooperation by promoting ▲ joint brand course development ▲ Corporation's own course development ▲ instructor exchanges ▲ and sharing of educational revenue.
In particular, leveraging Incheon Airport's operational know-how and years of experience in educational consulting, the Corporation's Talent Development Institute will jointly develop and operate courses in key areas related to airport operations with ACI, thereby diversifying educational programs and establishing a foundation for new revenue generation. Additionally, it is expected to contribute to realizing global social value by developing educational curricula for airport officials in developing countries and other nations where educational benefits are difficult to access.
Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, "We hope that this program's activation will revitalize exchanges and cooperation in the aviation education sector, which has been stagnant until now," and added, "Going forward, the Corporation plans to contribute to nurturing talent in the aviation field and the development of the aviation industry by developing and operating high-quality educational courses based on the accumulated airport operation know-how."
