[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency (Chief Go Gi-cheol) announced on the 20th that it held the ‘Jeju Police Agency Industrial Security Council Appointment Ceremony and Regular Meeting’ on the 19th at the 2nd floor Hallasangbang of Jeju Police Agency.

The event was held with the attendance of 14 people, including Go Gi-cheol, Chief of Jeju Police Agency, Lee Young-don, Chairman (Director of Jeju University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation), and experts related to industrial security.

On that day, 12 experts in the industrial technology field in the province were appointed as members of the Industrial Security Council, followed by discussions on the operation plan of the Industrial Security Council, presentations on the latest industrial technology trends, and listening to suggestions from the members.

Chief Go Gi-cheol said, “As the scale of industry in the Jeju area grows day by day, we are focusing our capabilities by externally forming the Industrial Security Council and internally reinforcing the Industrial Technology Protection Investigation Team personnel. However, the reality is that only 5.7% of actual incidents lead to police investigations through reports or complaints.”

He added, “The police agency has established an Industrial Technology Leakage Reporting Center that allows both named and anonymous reports as well as telephone consultations. We expect the newly appointed members to play a significant role in active promotional activities and advisory services by utilizing their networks.”

Chairman Lee Young-don said, “Most companies in the Jeju area do not recognize the importance of the value of the technology and knowledge they possess. Taking today as an opportunity, Jeju Police and the Industrial Security Council members will cooperate to protect the industrial technology of local companies and play a significant role in the industrial development of Jeju Province.”

Meanwhile, Jeju Police Agency plans to regularly communicate with the Industrial Security Council and play roles such as ‘prevention and investigation of industrial technology leakage crimes’ and ‘protection of corporate technology.’
