SKT Launches Quantum Phone at 610,000 KRW… Lowest Price for 'Galaxy Quantum' Series

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] SK Telecom, together with Samsung Electronics, is launching its third quantum-secure smartphone. The price is around 610,000 KRW, making it the most affordable yet.

SK Telecom announced on the 20th that it will release the quantum-secure 5G smartphone 'Galaxy Quantum3' on the 26th of this month. The pre-order period is from the 22nd to the 25th of this month.

The Galaxy Quantum3 is equipped with the world's smallest quantum random number generator (QRNG) chipset, measuring 2.5 x 2.5 mm. The QRNG chipset generates purely random numbers that are unpredictable and pattern-free, helping to make security-critical services such as authentication, finance, and messaging safer to use.

The Galaxy Quantum3 uses quantum security to protect service apps from SK ICT family companies such as T World, T Membership, and 11st, as well as banking, card, payment, social media, and gaming apps. It also encrypts external memory data on the device using QRNG. For the first time in the series, the Galaxy Quantum3 displays a 'Quantum Indicator' on the status bar to let customers know they are using quantum security services. The Quantum Indicator notification can be turned on or off, but regardless, the QRNG function remains active at all times by default.

It features a large 6.7-inch display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 8GB RAM, and a large 5000 mAh battery. The rear quad (4) cameras include a 108-megapixel main camera, and the front camera is 32 megapixels. This is the first Galaxy mid-range model to feature a camera with over 100 megapixels.

Colors are available in black, white, and blue. The retail price is 618,200 KRW. Previously, the 2020 'Galaxy A Quantum' was priced at 649,000 KRW, and the 2021 'Galaxy Quantum2' was priced at 699,000 KRW.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom offers benefits to customers who pre-order the Galaxy Quantum3, including Galaxy Buds Live wireless earphones, SK Pay points worth 50,000 KRW, a 2-month YouTube Premium subscription, and a 2-month subscription to Flo and Data. The official online store T Direct Shop will provide a 150,000 KRW discount coupon for the Galaxy Watch to the first 333 customers who activate their Galaxy Quantum3, and all purchasers will receive T Gifts related to security, gaming, and automobiles.
