원본보기 아이콘[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Lotte Members announced on the 20th that it will expand its remote work system for vacation spots called 'Workation' (a combination of work and vacation).
This year, Lotte Members' Workation will be held in a total of 7 sessions from the 17th of this month until the end of September, expanding the locations to Sokcho, Busan, and Jeju. Last year, it was held only in Jeju from June to October.
The number of participants has also nearly doubled from about 60 last year to a total of 112, with 16 people per session. This corresponds to about 45% of all Lotte Members employees.
Workation participants are selected through a public lottery among employees who apply for each session. Even if an employee is not selected in the lottery, they can apply again for the next session. For the 6th session held just before last year's Chuseok holiday, the competition rate reached 3 to 1.
Workation participants are provided with 5 nights and 6 days accommodation (single room per person) and breakfast at Sokcho Lotte Resort, Busan Lotte Hotel, or Jeju Lotte City Hotel, depending on the selected location.
During the period, employees work from Monday to Thursday and have free time starting Friday. With the flexible work system in place, employees can leave work from 3:30 PM if they complete the minimum required working hours for the day.
Osangwoo, Head of Management Strategy Division at Lotte Members, said, "The implementation of Workation has not only increased employee work satisfaction but also had a positive effect on attracting specialized personnel such as data scientists and developers. Following the full-scale permanent remote work system, we plan to proactively try various work styles and welfare systems suitable for the new normal era to attract competitive talent."
