Seoul City Hires Three Severely Disabled Individuals as Regular Public Officials

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the 20th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hire three people with severe disabilities through a competitive career recruitment exam in celebration of 'Disability Day.'

This exam is open to those classified as having severe disabilities under the Act on the Promotion of Employment and Vocational Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities, with no restrictions based on the type of disability. For the veterinary grade 7 and computer grade 9 positions, applicants must have the required certifications, and for the intellectual grade 9 position, relevant field experience is also required depending on the type of certification.

Applications can be submitted online at the Local Government Internet Application Center from May 3 to 9 for seven days. After the document screening results are finalized on June 17, interviews will be held on June 29, and the final successful candidates will be announced on July 15.

Min Su-hong, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Personnel Department, stated, “The city is making efforts to promote the public employment of people with severe disabilities, who face relatively poor employment conditions,” adding, “Even after selection, we will do our best to ensure stable work through customized support such as assistive technology devices and work assistants.”
