[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall will conduct a Gwangju Spirit history exploration program linked with the free semester system for first-year middle school students starting in April.
According to the Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall on the 19th, this Gwangju Spirit history exploration program was prepared to help students learn the righteousness of the ancestors and develop a correct historical awareness. Students will experience historical exploration sites imbued with the Gwangju Spirit of anti-Japanese independence, democracy, human rights, and peace, thereby enhancing their historical consciousness.
Especially this year, the program will be conducted concurrently with the Gwangju Spirit history exploration program visiting schools and on-site exploration experiences. The Independence Movement Memorial Hall will support one instructor and one transport vehicle per class for smooth, customized history exploration education. Various safety measures and guidelines will be established to prioritize and ensure students' safety during the operation.
Meanwhile, on the 13th, the 'Gwangju Spirit History Exploration Program Visiting Schools' was held for the first time at Bongseon Middle School. The program consisted of ▲watching a Gwangju Spirit video ▲learning at exploration sites requested by each class ▲completing a leaflet activity sheet. Students actively participated in various activities such as presentations, quizzes, drawing, and surveys using multiple materials.
A student who participated in the program said, "I thought history was always difficult, but the instructor explained it easily and interestingly, so I felt proud of Gwangju," and added, "Next time, I want to explore the places we learned about today with my friends and feel the Gwangju Spirit firsthand."
Lee Seung-mi, head of the Promotion Division at the Gwangju Student Independence Movement Memorial Hall, said, "Through this Gwangju Spirit history exploration program, we hope that young people will raise their historical awareness, establish their identity, and grow into confident citizens of Gwangju who embody democracy, human rights, and peace."
