[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver announced on the 19th that it has published the '2021 Integrated Report,' which contains the latest information on the company's business performance and efforts and directions for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management.
Until now, Naver has published major financial results and business performance through the annual report, and ESG management performance through the ESG report. Starting this year, it decided to publish in the form of an integrated report combining financial and non-financial performance. This is to bring together business and ESG directions and deliver them more accessibly to stakeholders such as investors.
Through this report, Naver provides a detailed introduction to its business structure and performance, and in the ESG area, it discloses in detail the 2021 implementation contents and achievements according to the seven major ESG promotion strategies: ▲Creating an eco-friendly e-commerce ecosystem ▲Supporting member growth and engagement ▲Expanding partner growth support ▲Maintaining and advancing governance transparency ▲Achieving 2040 Carbon Negative ▲Minimizing information protection and cybersecurity risks ▲Strengthening fair trade and ethical management.
In particular, in the governance section, readers can see various contents such as ▲The appointment and succession procedures of newly appointed executives this year ▲Shareholder return performance and direction centered on transparent performance evaluation and compensation systems for executives ▲Efforts to advance governance ▲Enhanced risk management system optimized for Naver’s characteristics, where each business division autonomously manages under the CIC.
Regarding people-centered management, the report also details various efforts made for structural innovation, including the establishment of a dedicated human rights management organization, human rights impact assessments, and organizational culture diagnostics.
Additionally, it reviews last year’s activities and approaches toward achieving Naver’s carbon neutrality goal, ‘Carbon Negative 2040,’ the eco-friendly building certification of Naver’s second headquarters ‘1784,’ biodiversity conservation activities at the second IDC ‘Gak Sejong,’ and achievements in building an eco-friendly e-commerce ecosystem.
Naver also published the SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) report and the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) report along with the integrated report. Through the SASB and TCFD reports, one can confirm financially material ESG information within the internet and media services sector, as well as Naver’s risks and opportunities related to climate change and its response directions.
