[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Woo-seok] Amid various allegations surrounding President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's ministerial appointments, the leadership of the Justice Party criticized the ministerial candidates Han Dong-hoon for the Ministry of Justice, Jeong Ho-young for the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Kim In-cheol for the Ministry of Education, and Kim Hyun-sook for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family as unqualified.
On the 19th, Justice Party leader Yeo Young-guk appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said about the candidates Han Dong-hoon, Jeong Ho-young, Kim In-cheol, and Kim Hyun-sook, "The People Power Party has long held various messages and standards regarding former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk during the Liberty Korea Party era," adding, "I hope the People Power Party reflects on whether these candidates meet the standards they themselves set, but inevitably, we will hear the story of double standards that they have often used."
He continued, "The Justice Party will examine and judge whether the ministerial candidates have the policy capabilities to operate the government in line with the spirit of the times, whether they have the ability to support the president-elect's state philosophy, and whether they have the ability to serve the people," emphasizing, "Based on the current moral standards, these candidates do not qualify to appear at the confirmation hearings."
On the 18th, Justice Party floor leader Bae Jin-kyo also stated at a leadership meeting held at the National Assembly, "Some ministerial candidates are involved in various allegations even before the confirmation hearings begin, only causing public outrage," and declared, "The Justice Party demands the withdrawal of the nominations for the four ministries: Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Gender Equality and Family."
He criticized the candidates individually, saying Han Dong-hoon is "merely a bodyguard to counter the Democratic Party's 'complete prosecution reform' (검수완박)," Jeong Ho-young's appointment is "at the level of violence against women," Kim In-cheol "does not even seem qualified as an educator, let alone a minister," and about Kim Hyun-sook, "A candidate who called the Sewol Ferry Truth Investigation Committee a waste of taxpayers' money needs no further comment."
Floor leader Bae emphasized, "Even based on the allegations raised by the media alone, these candidates lack the qualifications for public office. If the confirmation hearings proceed in earnest, it will only bring disgrace to President-elect Yoon who nominated them," and urged, "Do not cause further disappointment to the public. We strongly demand the withdrawal of nominations for candidates who are beyond common sense, incompetent, and lack qualifications."
