[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] Special Representative for North Korea Policy Sung Kim will meet with next government foreign and security officials, including Foreign Minister nominee Park Jin and Unification Minister nominee Kwon Young-se, to discuss measures regarding North Korea.
Seong Kim, U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, is delivering opening remarks at the U.S.-South Korea Senior Officials Meeting on North Korea's nuclear issues held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 18th.
원본보기 아이콘According to diplomatic circles on the 19th, Kim, who arrived in Korea the previous day, met with Unification Minister Lee In-young in the afternoon and is scheduled to meet with nominee Park the next morning on the 20th.
On his way to the confirmation hearing preparation office in Jongno-gu, Seoul, nominee Park disclosed plans for a meeting with Kim to reporters. He said, "We will discuss ways to closely cooperate between South Korea and the U.S. regarding the threat from North Korea."
It is known that Kim is coordinating a meeting with nominee Kwon on the morning of the 21st. According to the transition team, Kim Sung-han is scheduled to have a private meal at an external location during Kim's visit.

Kwon Young-se, Vice Chairman of the transition team, is arriving at the 20th Presidential Transition Committee in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 17th.
Additionally, Kim is expected to meet with Cho Tae-yong, a former first vice foreign minister and recently deputy head of the Korea-U.S. Policy Consultation Delegation who visited the U.S. Cho has been strongly mentioned as a candidate for ambassador to the U.S.
However, there are currently no plans for a meeting with President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol. This appears to be due to Kim's rank as an assistant secretary-level official.
