[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Lee Don-seung, a preliminary candidate for Wanju County Governor, pledged on the 19th to create "Barrier-Free No.1 Wanju County" through the prompt commencement of the Disabled Sports Center construction, expansion of barrier-free facilities and public facilities.
The candidate stated, "We will promote various policies so that the 8,041 registered disabled people in Wanju County can live without discrimination and inconvenience, elevating Wanju County to 'Barrier-Free No.1'.
The main pledges include △prompt commencement of the Disabled Sports Center construction △active response to the Bandabi Sports Center contest △expansion of barrier-free public facilities and tourist sites △introduction of barrier-free polling stations △creation of stable jobs through revitalization of vocational rehabilitation facilities △increase in the purchase ratio of products made by disabled people.
In particular, by expanding barrier-free public facilities and tourist sites, the candidate aims to raise the appropriate installation rate of convenience facilities for the disabled, currently at 61.9%, to over 70% within the term, and declared to actively promote the installation of barrier-free polling stations through active consultation with the political circles and the election commission.
The candidate said, "Disabled people also have inherent rights based on human dignity," and added, "We will prioritize policies to the extent that disabled people in Wanju County do not feel discriminated against due to their disabilities at all."
