[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Gongcha Korea announced on the 19th that it has opened its 800th store, 'Pyeongtaek Godeok Branch.'
A Gongcha official said, "This achievement was reached just one year after opening the 700th store," adding, "as a tea brand, we have recorded the highest number of stores in the country."
Since opening its first store in Hongdae in 2012, Gongcha has introduced new and diverse tea beverages by adding milk, toppings, and more to leaf tea brewed directly over the past 10 years.
Despite the domestic and international cafe market downturn caused by COVID-19, Gongcha's sales and operating profit last year maintained stable growth at 103% and 111%, respectively, compared to 2020. The number of stores expanded from 1,415 at the end of 2020 to 1,661 within a year. Through a customized localization strategy based on thorough analysis of market conditions by country and active investment attraction, Gongcha has successfully expanded into more than 20 countries worldwide, including Taiwan, Japan, and the United States.
