[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Dongbu Fire Station of Gwangju Metropolitan City emphasized on the 19th that the installation and management of temporary fire-fighting facilities inside construction sites are important for fire prevention.
Construction sites often experience fires caused by metal sparks generated during welding and cutting operations falling onto highly flammable materials such as Styrofoam and igniting them.
Additionally, it has been found that fires frequently start when fires are lit using coal or similar fuels for curing concrete. Due to carelessness and poor management, the possibility of large-scale fires is high, so installing temporary fire-fighting facilities requires significant attention for fire prevention.
The temporary fire-fighting facilities that must be installed inside construction sites include ▲fire extinguishers ▲simple fire extinguishing devices ▲emergency alarm devices ▲simple evacuation guidance lines, and their installation has been mandatory at construction sites with fire risks since 2015.
If welding, cutting, or other fire-risk work is carried out at construction sites without installing temporary fire-fighting facilities, a fine of 3 million won will be imposed according to the "Enforcement Decree of the Act on Fire Prevention, Installation and Maintenance of Fire-Fighting Facilities, and Safety Management."
A Dongbu Fire Station official stated, "Since there are many operations such as welding and cutting at construction sites, carelessness and poor management can lead to large-scale fires. We ask all related personnel to comply with safety rules and install temporary fire-fighting facilities to actively work on fire prevention."
