[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is promoting the 'Small and Medium Business Fuel Conversion Support Project' to reduce emissions of fine dust and other air pollutants.
According to the province on the 18th, this project is a policy that helps small and medium-sized enterprises that emit large amounts of air pollutants switch to facilities using clean fuels such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), significantly reducing air pollutant emissions.
This year's project targets small and medium-sized enterprises using liquid fuels such as bunker-C oil located in five cities and counties within the province: Yangju, Pocheon, Gimpo, Dongducheon, and Yangpyeong.
The province plans to select 12 final supported companies through on-site evaluations and a selection committee review, providing up to 72 million KRW per company to cover the costs of related facilities (burners, storage tanks, piping, etc.).
In particular, starting this year, with the support of national subsidies, the support amount has been increased more than twofold from the previous 33 million KRW to 72 million KRW, and the self-payment ratio has been reduced to 10%.
Kim Tae-su, head of the Northern Environmental Management Division, said, "This will help fundamentally reduce fine dust emissions from small and medium-sized enterprises and establish a low-carbon, eco-friendly industrial system."
