[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Daemyung Sono Group's Sono International announced on the 18th that it will offer a special discount allowing customers to use the Chuncheon Samaksan Lake Cable Car at up to 50% off in celebration of Family Month in May.

This special discount is available to Gangwon residents and senior citizens with accompanying guests. Gangwon residents can receive a 20% discount on weekdays (Monday to Friday) and a 10% discount on weekends (Saturday to Sunday) and public holidays until May 31, applicable only to the individual. To receive the discount, an ID verifying Gangwon residency (resident registration card, driver's license, etc.) must be presented at the ticket booth on site.

The senior citizen and accompanying guest discount, themed "Recommend Filial Piety, Extra Discount," is offered every Wednesday until May 26. Chuncheon citizens aged 65 and older and up to four accompanying guests can receive a 50% and 30% fare discount respectively. For citizens from areas outside Chuncheon, a 40% discount applies to the senior individual and 20% to up to four accompanying guests. An ID must also be presented to receive this discount.

Additionally, on the 25th, marking the 200th day since the opening of the Samaksan Cable Car, an event will be held where general cabins can be ridden for 10,000 KRW and crystal cabins for 15,000 KRW regardless of the time of use. Group customers of 20 or more visiting the Samaksan Cable Car until May 31 are also eligible for a 20% discount on weekdays and 10% on weekends and holidays. Until April 29, discounted tickets with 20% off on weekdays and 10% off on weekends and holidays can also be purchased through the Naver portal site.

Meanwhile, the Samaksan Cable Car, which opened last October, is the longest cable car in Korea, running a 3.61 km route with Uiam Lake and Samaksan Mountain as its backdrop. A total of 66 cabins are in operation, including 20 crystal cabins with transparent floors, and the round trip takes about 30 minutes. Furthermore, on the 8th, a skywalk was opened at the top of Samaksan Cable Car (the 8th ridge of Samaksan Mountain). It is a gentle 435-meter-long walking deck designed for easy access by people of all ages.

Sono International operates the facility from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in April and plans to offer regular nighttime operations from May through November.
