[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jang Man-chae, a preliminary candidate for Suncheon mayor, issued a press release on the 18th, stating, “The daily life that had been restricted for 2 years and 1 month due to COVID-19 has been lifted starting today,” and welcomed it as “a prompt government measure for small business owners who suffered severe damage.”
However, Jang Man-chae, the preliminary candidate for Suncheon mayor, urged, “Since the infectivity of COVID-19, including the spread of variant viruses, is still high, hygiene rules such as wearing masks and washing hands must be strictly followed.”
The government announced that social distancing measures related to business hours, private gatherings, events, and assemblies will all be lifted starting from the 18th.
Accordingly, the restriction on private gatherings, which had been limited to 10 people, was lifted from 5 a.m. on that day, and the business hour restrictions for multi-use facilities, which had been until midnight, were also lifted.
At movie theaters, starting from the 25th, one week later, it will be possible to watch movies while eating popcorn.
Large-scale dinners will be possible at workplaces or clubs. Prospective couples will no longer face restrictions on the number of people when distributing wedding invitations, holding formal meetings between families, or having wedding ceremonies.
Not only restaurants and cafes but also entertainment facilities, karaoke rooms, bathhouses, and gyms can be used until dawn depending on the establishment.
Candidate Jang said, “The lifting of social distancing does not mean that COVID-19 has disappeared,” and added, “Let us, the respected citizens of Suncheon, strictly follow hygiene rules to make Suncheon safe from various infectious diseases.”
Candidate Jang served as the president of Suncheon University and the 16th and 17th Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, and during the last presidential election, he served as the co-chairman of the Jeonnam joint election campaign committee for candidate Lee Jae-myung and as a standing member of the Balanced Growth Committee.
