[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province will actively operate the visiting regulation reporting center, ‘Gyumunhyeondap, Hidden Regulation Field Discovery Team,’ starting in April to eliminate unreasonable regulations.

Gyumunhyeondap, Hidden Regulation Field Discovery Team is one of the on-site communication regulation innovation policies that Changwon City has been promoting since 2014.

With the slogan “The answer to regulation problems lies in the field,” the team was formed to find and resolve regulations that hinder business management and investment activities and cause inconvenience to citizens’ economic activities directly at the site.

The First Deputy Mayor oversees the regulation innovation officer, and with the legal affairs officer as the head, the field discovery team, composed of city department staff and experts, visits local companies and organizations to listen to their difficulties and find solutions.

This month, the city will conduct a preliminary demand survey targeting local companies and, based on the received suggestions, will coordinate schedules to visit the sites to resolve difficulties and improve regulations.

Suggestions that can be resolved internally will be forwarded to the responsible departments for immediate improvement measures, while those requiring official procedures or sufficient opinion gathering will be submitted as agenda items to the city’s Regulation Reform Committee.

Other matters under the jurisdiction of central government ministries will be suggested through the regulation proposal channel and managed afterward for improvement.

The city will also collect opinions on grievances related to local taxes or unreasonable regulations and conduct tax consulting together with the taxpayer protection officer.

First Deputy Mayor An Kyungwon said, “Our main goal is to discover and improve regulatory reform tasks focusing on revitalizing the local economy and recovering livelihoods that have stagnated since COVID-19. We will devote all efforts to activating the local economy and resolving citizens’ inconveniences,” adding, “We will continuously promote on-site, communication-centered regulatory innovation until citizens and businesses are satisfied.”
