450 Professors and Researchers Declare Support for Gwangju Mayor Candidate Kang Gijeong 원본보기 아이콘


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 18th, 450 university professors and researchers declared their support for Kang Ki-jung, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.


They held a press conference at the Kangchu Camp that morning and stated, "The regional economic crisis and the crisis of local universities are best overcome through a 'university symbiotic community' composed of local governments, regional companies, and local universities," adding, "Kang Ki-jung is the candidate with a strong will and philosophy regarding this."


They said, "The most suitable person to solve Gwangju's current economic and university crises is preliminary candidate Kang," citing "his strong driving force and excellent political skills demonstrated in the National Assembly and the Blue House, the spirit shown in the 1980s democratization movement and empathy for the lives of the people, as well as his communication skills and educational philosophy consistently shown through exchanges with academia until now."


Professors who declared support include Kang Nam-hoon (Hanshin University), Kim Young-chul (Chonnam National University), Kang Myung-sook (Paichai University), Kim Do-hyung (Sungshin Women's University), Kim Myung-yeon (Sangji University), Kim Young-woo (Gyeongju University), Kim Jae-hyung (Chosun University), Seon Jae-won (Pyeongtaek University), Ahn Hyun-hyo (Daegu University), Yeom Min-ho (Chonnam National University), Lee Seong-ro (Andong National University), Lim Jae-hong (Korea National Open University), Jeong Tae-seok (Jeonbuk National University), and Hong Seong-hak (Chungbuk Health Science University).


Also, as representative professors promoting symbiotic cooperation among universities in Gwangju, the following were named: Go Min-gyun (Health University), Kim Nam-wook (Songwon University), Kim Jun-ha (GIST), Park Jong-ryeol (Gwangju Women's University), Seo Jeong-hoon (Donggang University), Shin Ji-hoon (Seoyoung University), Ahn Tae-gi (Gwangju University), Wi Seong-wook (Chosun Nursing University), Yoo Young-tae (Chosun University), Lee Geon-geun (Daedong CT Research Institute), Jeon Young-joo (Chosun Institute of Science and Technology), and Chae Young-ran (Honam University).
