According to the university on the 18th, this project is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Craft & Design Foundation.
This year, Hannam University is the only institution selected for this project in Daejeon, Chungnam, and Sejong. In particular, Professor Kim's team has achieved the distinction of being selected for four consecutive years.
Following the selection results, Professor Kim plans to establish a new liberal arts course in the second semester of this year. Additionally, she will focus on verifying the hanbok materials worn by the missionaries who founded Hannam University and promoting modern hanbok by utilizing the missionary village infrastructure on campus.
The new liberal arts course to be established by Professor Kim is based on historical materials from Hannam University and the missionary village, so the university expects that students will have an opportunity to understand and learn the history of modern hanbok, reflecting the hanbok worn by foreigners who visited Korea in the modern era and the contemporary social context of that time.
Professor Kim said, “We plan to conduct a new form of hanbok education by reproducing modern hanbok in connection with Hannam University’s story.”
