[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Jeonnam Gwangyang Hope Library announced that it will hold a special event on the 23rd, World Book Day designated by UNESCO, where citizens visiting the library will receive picture books and roses.

‘World Book Day’ originated from the Catalonia region festival in Spain called ‘Saint George’s Day,’ where flowers are given to people who purchase books. It was established by UNESCO in 1995 to promote reading worldwide.

On that day, from 1 PM to 5 PM, Hope Library will hold a ‘Rose Sharing Event’ giving roses to visitors and a ‘Picture Book Dream Corner’ distributing picture books.

The roses used in the Rose Sharing Event were donated by Busung Win System Co., Ltd., a local plastic window manufacturer that sympathizes with the purpose of Book Day, and will be distributed to the first 100 visitors in the first-floor lobby.

The books used in the ‘Picture Book Dream Corner’ operated in the third-floor Kkumssak Gallery consist of a total of 860 picture books collected from the picture book bus, which ended operation last December, and picture books donated by citizens. Each citizen will receive up to five books.

Kim Hyun-sook, team leader of Hope Library, said, “We prepared this event to inform citizens about the meaning of Book Day and to offer small joys and the pleasure of reading. We hope for much interest and participation.”
