[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education is organizing and operating the ‘School Physical Education Activation Support Team,’ a visiting teacher training program to improve the declining health and physical fitness of students and teachers.

According to the Office of Education on the 18th, the School Physical Education Activation Support Team is composed of an instructor group centered on physical education subject research teachers and conducts training upon application from individual schools.

The training program consists of three programs: ▲Sports Rhythm Training ▲Sports Taping ▲PAPS Step Test, aiming to enhance teachers’ instructional capabilities and thereby help efficiently guide students’ health and physical fitness improvement.

Sports Rhythm Training is a program where participants step in time to sound effects. It involves no risk of injury and has a high amount of exercise, making it suitable for warm-ups and home training. It is not restricted by gender, age, or location, allowing anyone to easily enjoy it.

Sports Taping is a simple injury first-aid program that supports safe physical activities by stabilizing injured areas with tape.

Also, the PAPS Step Test is a heart rate measurement program involving stepping up and down stairs to measure heartbeats, which is an appropriate cardiopulmonary endurance measurement method during the COVID-19 period.

In particular, the School Physical Education Activation Support Team program is a very beneficial program that can accelerate the normalization of school physical activities and the recovery of daily life following the abolition of social distancing due to COVID-19. The Office of Education plans to do its best to spread the program based on active promotion and support.

Section Chief Lee Byung-kwan stated, “We hope this program will be a cornerstone for school physical education activation and daily life recovery, including psychological and emotional issues caused by COVID-19 blues and recovery of health and physical fitness,” and added, “We hope many schools will participate in this project supporting students’ healthy school life.”
