[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City recently announced on the 18th that it conducted various 'Violence and Child Abuse Prevention Campaigns' in areas with high foot traffic such as Hwajeong Intersection and the May 18th Memorial Park.
The violence and child abuse prevention campaign was carried out with the participation of about 40 members of the Seo-gu Women's Association Council.
Wearing sashes and holding placards, the members distributed related leaflets and promotional items to citizens, raising awareness of the seriousness of various violence and child abuse issues and urging the formation of a consensus.
Jang Kyung-ja, president of the Seo-gu Women's Association Council, stated, "From this month until November, we will strive to create a safe Gwangju through regular monthly campaign activities and to promote the rights and interests of citizens, including women and children."
A Seo-gu official said, "Small interest from citizens can come together to eliminate heartbreaking incidents in society," and urged the sharing of information within the local community and the establishment of a close cooperative system.
Meanwhile, the Seo-gu Women's Association Council was established in 2013 and consists of about 562 members from 7 organizations. It has continued to participate and volunteer in activities promoting gender equality and preventing sexual violence, domestic violence, prostitution, and child abuse, as well as various events.
