Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee Ahn Cheol-soo stated on the 18th, "We need to establish a social grand integration body that can carry out pension reform within a short period of time."

At the 'One Month Since the Launch of the Transition Committee Press Briefing' held at the Transition Committee press conference room in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 18th, Chairman Ahn responded to a question about future plans for pension reform promotion.

Chairman Ahn emphasized, "First, pension reform will definitely be carried out. Second, we will create a grand integration body that can implement pension reform quickly, where stakeholders will gather to start discussions. I believe that is the role of the Transition Committee."

He continued, "At that (grand integration body), we need to consider how to handle pension insurance premiums, how to make the system sustainable, what the income replacement rate should be so that the elderly do not suffer from financial hardship later, and how to adjust the bottom tier for those whose income replacement rate is too low to sustain their livelihood."

Chairman Ahn said, "If the Transition Committee creates guidelines on issues such as raising pension insurance premiums or determining the income replacement rate, that itself could become controversial and stakeholders may fail to reach a compromise."
