[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency is conducting an 'Online Public Safety Live Consultation Broadcast' targeting foreign residents.

The consultation service has been carried out in collaboration with foreigner support centers such as the Multicultural Family Support Center and the International Exchange Center to prevent crime and provide counseling. However, it was initiated due to the difficulty of face-to-face consultations amid local infection prevention measures.

The broadcast is scheduled to be held for about one hour from 8 p.m. on the second Friday of every month.

In the first broadcast, police officers and professional interpreters introduced the latest public safety information, including how to install the phone scam detection app 'Citizen Conan' and tips for preventing sexual crime victimization, and held a real-time Q&A session with participating foreigners.

Considering the diverse nationalities of foreign residents, the service will initially be provided in five languages: Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian, Cambodian, and Indonesian, with plans to gradually expand the target languages.

Lee Hyung-beom, head of the Foreign Affairs Division, stated, “This broadcast service will serve as a useful communication channel to enhance foreigners' understanding of police work and accessibility.”
