[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Kakao's content publishing platform Brunch is launching various secondary works based on the special award-winning works of the 9th Brunch Book Publishing Project through crowdfunding.
Last September, Brunch held the 9th Brunch Book Publishing Project and selected 10 grand prize winners and 3 special award winners from over 5,900 submissions. The special award-winning works are ▲ Learning Brand B (Small Brander Park Yocheol) ▲ Insights for Success in Humanities (Sterdam) ▲ Revisiting MBTI (Nobaksa Leo), and they are supported with a prize of 1 million KRW and production funding on the crowdfunding platform Wadiz.
This funding campaign is characterized by rebirthing Brunch Books not only as paper books but also as various forms of secondary works. 'Learning Brand B' offers an e-book, email coaching rights, and 1:1 consulting; 'Insights for Success in Humanities' provides e-book publishing, online live coaching, and a 4-week writing challenge as products and services; and 'Revisiting MBTI' launches a psychological test package, text materials, and face-to-face coaching rights.
The special award-winning works funding will be conducted sequentially on Wadiz until the 29th.
Meanwhile, Kakao has been holding the Brunch Book Publishing Project annually since 2015 to support aspiring authors. Through nine contests, it has discovered 279 works and produced bestsellers such as 'The Sadness of Young ADHD' and 'The 90s Generation is Coming.' By the end of 2021, the cumulative number of Brunch authors surpassed 50,000.
The Brunch team stated, “Brunch Books are being reborn not only as paper books but also as various secondary works such as crowdfunding, e-books, audiobooks, and VOD,” and added, “We plan to hold the 10th Brunch Book Publishing Project in the second half of this year to provide broader opportunities for authors.”
