[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] LG Electronics is practicing win-win cooperation through sisterhood partnerships to promote the development of rural fishing villages.

On the 18th, LG Electronics announced that it formed a one-company-one-village sisterhood partnership with a village in Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Province, and donated home appliances such as refrigerators and dishwashers to communal facilities including the village hall. Since February last year, LG Electronics has started forming one-company-one-village sisterhood partnerships with rural fishing villages to promote community development and win-win cooperation, and has signed agreements with 11 villages to date.

LG Electronics supports the sisterhood villages by ▲donating home appliances to communal facilities such as village halls ▲providing laptops to college students from vulnerable groups ▲purchasing local specialty products from the villages and donating them to social welfare facilities ▲offering free repair services for home appliances in case of natural disasters.

Meanwhile, the LG Electronics Labor Union is also practicing its social responsibility by forming one-company-one-village sisterhood partnerships with rural fishing villages in Gangwon, Gyeongnam, and Chungbuk, donating home appliances, and volunteering during busy farming seasons. Yoon Dae-sik, Executive Vice President in charge of External Cooperation at LG Electronics, emphasized, “We will continue to carry out various exchange activities that can help the villages to revitalize rural fishing areas.”
