[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart24 announced that starting from the 18th, it will sell the essential camping item 'portable torch' through mobile application (app) pre-order purchases.
The portable torch being sold this time is an essential item used by campers for direct flame cooking or lighting fires, and it is a product exclusively developed through a collaboration between Emart24 and a domestic lighter manufacturer.
Emart24 explained, "Compared to existing portable torches priced between 20,000 to 30,000 KRW, this product is priced under 10,000 KRW with similar performance and has gained popularity among campers under the nickname 'Joseon Torch'." Lee Daeyeon, MD of Emart24's Non-Food Team, said, "Reflecting customer demand for camping-related products, we planned and launched this product last winter in collaboration with a domestic lighter company. When sales began at offline stores earlier this year, the five-month supply was sold out within two days. Following continuous requests from store owners and customers, we decided to proceed with app sales for this additional production batch."
Limited quantity popular products are actively sold through the mobile app. Emart24 conducted a limited sale of 1,000 units of the 2nd generation Apple Pencil through the mobile app, selling out completely within five days. The limited edition couple socks, planned in collaboration with shoe YouTuber 'Wadi,' sold out within a day, and the limited quantity Nintendo Switch Pok?mon Legends Arceus was also sold via mobile pre-order, receiving great customer response.
Mobile app pre-order purchases allow customers to pay through the app and pick up the product at a designated date and store. Since popular products are often limited in quantity and difficult to sell at all stores, conducting mobile app pre-orders helps customers avoid wasted trips to stores, and franchisees can increase additional sales, which explains why app sales of popular limited items are actively taking place.
Emart24 stated, "We plan to continuously introduce attractive products available for purchase through the app to attract mobile users to offline stores, and at the same time, create a virtuous cycle where customers who experience differentiated purchasing through the app will return to the app again."
