Jeong Dong-il, Former Jung-gu Mayor, Declares Support for Kim Gil-seong, Jung-gu Mayor Preliminary Candidate

Current and Former Jung-gu Council Members Also Declare 'Jung-gu One Team' Together

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jeong Dong-il, former mayor of Jung-gu, Seoul, declared his support for Kim Gil-seong, a preliminary candidate for Jung-gu mayor, on the 17th.

Former Mayor Jeong Dong-il had previously been active as a preliminary candidate for Jung-gu mayor but decided not to run to ensure the victory of the People Power Party and declared his support for candidate Kim Gil-seong.

On this day, former Mayor Jeong Dong-il evaluated candidate Kim Gil-seong, saying, “Candidate Kim Gil-seong is a proven capable person through his experience as an administrative officer at the Presidential Office and as president of Yongin Urban Corporation, making him the most competitive candidate.” He also declared his support for Kim Gil-seong, stating, “He is a ‘Jung-gu expert’ who attended elementary, middle, and high school in Jung-gu, and the only suitable person who can create a Jung-gu one team.”

Along with this, current Jung-gu council member Gil Ki-young, former Jung-gu council members Park Young-han, Go Mun-sik, So Jae-kwon, Yang Eun-mi, former Seoul city council member Seong Ha-sam, and former Jung-gu council chairs Oh Se-hong, Kim Ki-tae, Kim Su-an, Kim Dong-hak, Kim Sa-hong, and Son Deok-su also declared their support for candidate Kim Gil-seong and announced the formation of a ‘Jung-gu one team.’

They pledged, “We will form a Jung-gu one team centered on candidate Kim Gil-seong and take the lead in a landslide victory in the local elections.”

Candidate Kim Gil-seong expressed gratitude for the support and said, “I believe that former Mayor Jeong Dong-il, a senior figure in Jung-gu, former Seoul city council member Seong Ha-sam, and Jung-gu council member Park Young-han will provide great help based on their experience in district administration and administrative knowledge.” He added, “Based on today’s declaration, we will become a ‘Jung-gu one team’ and a ‘dream team’ dedicated solely to the development of Jung-gu residents and will definitely win.”

He especially emphasized, “To ensure the victory of the People Power Party, we will definitely form one team and become a candidate that everyone wins with.”
