[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Lee Jeong-seon, a preliminary candidate for Gwangju Superintendent of Education, stated on the 17th, "I will restore the Gwangsan Office of Education, which was absorbed and integrated into the Western Education Office after Gwangsan-gun, Jeonnam was incorporated into Gwangju."

The candidate pointed out, "Although there are 15,354 high school students in Gwangsan-gu, the largest number among the five districts of Gwangju, the number of standardized general high schools is only 11, which is far from sufficient, and the capacity for students is 12,234, meaning about 3,120 students have to endure long commutes or attend overcrowded schools."

As solutions, he proposed ▲ relocation of private high schools in Gwangsan-gu and ▲ establishment of a new public girls' high school.

He added, "There is only one girls' high school, so female students and parents in Gwangsan-gu have almost no choice in schools. We plan to promote the relocation of private high schools by utilizing the former Hanam Elementary School site and the area near Suwan Hana Middle School, and establish a public girls' high school (tentatively named Hanam Girls' High School) to improve educational equity and satisfaction for students in Gwangsan-gu."

Furthermore, he mentioned that a life SOC complex facility will be installed in the newly established school to enhance residents' convenience and quality of life.

Candidate Lee emphasized, "I am the only prepared superintendent who can solve the educational issues of Gwangsan-gu, where the number of students is steadily increasing, and I will bring a new wave to Gwangsan education through tailored education for Gwangsan."
