[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] Park Yong-jin, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the suspicions surrounding Jeong Ho-young, the nominee for Minister of Health and Welfare, and the personnel issues at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering raised by the Presidential Transition Committee, calling it the "ultimate hypocrisy." Park demanded that President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol withdraw Jeong's nomination.
On the 17th, Park pointed out on social media (SNS) that "the suspicions against Minister nominee Jeong are escalating." He said, "From the '3M stethoscope' column, remarks like 'smartphone users are mentally ill,' and 'women are worse at photoshopping interview photos,' which are discriminatory and unrelated to the essence, to playing golf during official business trips and enjoying cruise tours and dance parties while serving as a university hospital director, it was already questionable whether he was qualified as a minister." He added, "Now, the 'dad chance' enjoyed by Jeong Ho-young's children is being revealed."
Park mentioned, "Special preferential transfers of his daughter and son to Kyungpook National University Medical School, his son being listed as a co-author on a university thesis, attempts to inflate his son's university career and cover up evidence, and finally, the military service diagnosis certificate for public service duty received five years after being judged fit for active duty was issued by Kyungpook National University Hospital, where his father was serving as deputy director."
He said, "Why do you think the public supported President-elect Yoon? Isn't it because of the hypocrisy that trampled fairness and common sense through 'dad chance,' the so-called 'Cho Kuk incident'?" He added, "If President-elect Yoon were still the Prosecutor General, wouldn't he have already conducted comprehensive raids on Jeong Ho-young's residence and Kyungpook National University Hospital given these suspicions? The People Power Party and President-elect Yoon have no right to talk about Cho Kuk."
Park criticized, "The Transition Committee called Park Doo-sun, CEO of Daewoo Shipbuilding, a 'Blue House insider appointment.' Those who criticized this as insider appointments just because he was a university classmate of the president's younger brother actually chose a friend of the president-elect with numerous disqualifications as a minister, saying 'we will only look at ability.' Isn't this the ultimate hypocrisy?"
He said, "Where is the president-elect's campaign promise to 'turn a country of vested interests into a country of opportunity, and a Korea of plunder into a Korea of fairness' now? The cabinet, led by Jeong Ho-young, is truly a cabinet of disheartening, regionally alienating, conservative men from Yeongnam, a so-called Jeong.Ho.Young cabinet."
Park urged, "President-elect Yoon should now form his team based on fairness and common sense. Trying to save a friend will lose public trust. Do not be penny wise and pound foolish; withdraw Jeong Ho-young's nomination."
