The four cities and counties have agreed to develop the Jinhaeman Area and cooperate with each other based on the 'Jinhaeman Area New Cultural Tourism and Economic Belt.'
They will collaborate across all urban sectors including Jinhaeman culture and tourism, industry and economy, transportation infrastructure, and marine environment.
The agreement includes ▲expanding social infrastructure and discovering specialized linked cooperative projects to establish the Jinhaeman Area New Cultural Tourism and Economic Belt ▲strengthening cooperation to create hubs for culture, tourism, and marine leisure sports and to revitalize resources ▲joint efforts to introduce connected tourism transportation means in the Jinhaeman Area.
It also includes ▲mutual cooperation to build shipbuilding and marine industry and offshore wind power clusters ▲joint promotion of expanding private investment projects and revitalizing local commercial districts ▲expansion and improvement of transportation infrastructure to enhance interregional exchange and residents' transportation welfare ▲joint treatment of marine waste in the Jinhaeman Area and establishment of a joint protection and management system for fishery resources.
Regarding the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Megacity, the cities and counties will jointly discover and promote linked projects and reflect them in the Megacity cooperation projects.
The four cities and counties plan to form a working-level consultative body in June to specifically prepare detailed projects for sectoral linked cooperation.
Starting in the second half of the year, they will continuously propose that the Jinhaeman Area New Cultural Tourism and Economic Belt be reflected in the national project for southern region wide-area tourism development pledged by the president-elect.
A city official said, “This will be another signal to open a new era of development in the southern region centered on the Jinhaeman Area.”
Changwon Mayor Heo Seong-mu said, “It is important that our cities and counties do better in projects we are already doing well and that projects which can be linked and complemented mutually benefit each other. I hope this agreement will be a great catalyst for accelerating national balanced development and revitalizing the regional economy.”
