[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Kang Ki-jung, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, and the 'Gwangju Climate Crisis Emergency Action' have joined hands to jointly respond to the climate crisis.
On the afternoon of the 14th, they held a signing ceremony at Kangchu Camp and pledged to respond to the climate crisis, including "reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 25% compared to 2018 by 2025."
To this end, they discussed detailed measures such as ▲establishing an education system ▲expanding the category of vulnerable groups and building a disaster preparedness adaptation system ▲low-carbon agriculture and food ▲a transition economy through the creation of more than 23,000 climate jobs.
At the signing ceremony, preliminary candidate Kang Ki-jung additionally proposed opening an era of carbon-neutral transition with the goal of a "just climate transition where nature, people, and animals are all healthy."
He then presented 24 tasks in six major areas: ▲transition to an energy-autonomous city ▲ecological transition throughout the city ▲a One Health city where everyone is healthy ▲a city safe from the climate crisis ▲implementation of just carbon neutrality ▲implementation of ESG responsible administration throughout city governance.
Preliminary candidate Kang Ki-jung emphasized, "The climate crisis is the most important issue for the city," adding, "Having prepared to become a climate mayor together with climate-related experts in the camp, I will confidently and swiftly lead the green transition."
