[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The Presidential Transition Committee (Transition Committee) Blue House Relocation Task Force (TF) announced on the 15th that it will begin a public contest for the name and proposed meaning of the new Yongsan Presidential Office to be relocated in line with the inauguration of the 20th president.

President-elect Yoon plans to strengthen communication with the public through the naming contest for the presidential office. On the 20th of last month, President-elect Yoon announced the plan to relocate the presidential office and stated that the name of the presidential office, which will replace the Blue House, will be selected through a public contest involving the people.

The contest, open to all citizens of the Republic of Korea, will be held for a total of 31 days from today until the 15th of next month. The winning entry is expected to be announced in early June.

The contest will be conducted on the government's public policy participation platform, 'Gukmin Saenggakham' (National Idea Box), through social network service (SNS), member, and non-member logins. Access to the contest site is also available via the Presidential Transition Committee website and the 'Blue House, Back to the People (Online Communication Center)'. The prize money will total approximately 12 million KRW, including 6 million KRW for the grand prize, as well as excellence and encouragement awards.

Yoon Han-hong, head of the Blue House Relocation TF and member of the People Power Party, said, "The relocation of the presidential office carries historical significance as it moves away from the Blue House, a symbol of authoritarianism and the imperial presidency, and approaches the people." He added, "We hope the public will participate in this presidential office naming contest and share this historic moment together."
