Yoon Ho-jung: "Han Dong-hoon Nomination is a Declaration of War Against the People"

[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Park Jun-i] On the 15th, Yoon Ho-jung, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's nomination of Han Dong-hoon as Minister of Justice, calling it a "declaration of war against the people."

At the Emergency Response Committee meeting that day, Chairman Yoon said, "This is a declaration to seize control of investigative agencies by placing a loyal subordinate at the forefront and to carry out public security governance with unchecked prosecutorial power."

He continued, "If the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution collude, the personnel appointments of high-ranking officials will fall under the control of the prosecution, and all ministries will be unable to escape the surveillance and control of the Ministry of Justice," defining it as "the completion of a prosecution republic."

He also warned, "This is a preemptive strike by the People Power Party, which had some expectations for the next government," adding, "The downfall of the Roh Tae-woo administration stemmed from the 'Crown Prince of Power,' and the Kim Young-sam administration was shunned by the people because of the 'small president' phenomenon."

He concluded, "Please do not take the path you should not take," and urged, "We call for President-elect Yoon's responsible decision."
