[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jonghwa] As spring arrives with fine dust and yellow dust becoming rampant, interest in air quality is increasing. Many people think that fine dust usually exists only outdoors, but fine dust can enter indoors through very small gaps in doors or windows, so indoor air is not free from external environmental influences.

In fact, indoor air pollution levels are about five times higher than outdoor air pollution levels, which is quite serious. To purify polluted indoor air, regular air purification and ventilation are necessary, but on days when outdoor air pollution is severe due to fine dust or yellow dust, natural ventilation by opening windows is often avoided.

To solve these consumer concerns, various high-performance air purifiers have been released. On the 15th of last month, LG launched the 'LG PuriCare 360-degree Air Purifier Alpha,' which enhances hygiene performance by removing 99.999% of five major harmful gases and ultrafine dust particles as small as 0.01 micrometers. Earlier last month, Samsung Electronics introduced the 2022 model air purifier 'Blue Sky,' equipped with a three-stage purification system consisting of an ultra-fine filter, charcoal deodorizing filter, and fine dust collection filter.

The performance of newly released air purifiers is improving day by day, and it is common for every household to have an air purifier. However, what should not be overlooked for clean indoor air and a comfortable living environment is 'ventilation.'

Gaseous pollutants such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), radon, and carbon dioxide, which worsen indoor air quality and adversely affect health, have limitations in being completely removed through air purification and can only be eliminated through ventilation.

Kyungdong Navien, a leader in the clean ventilation system field, offers the 'Navien Clean Ventilation System,' which allows users to enjoy both air purification and ventilation effects without opening windows. Since indoor and outdoor air are exchanged through ducts and diffusers embedded in the ceiling, the benefits of natural ventilation can be enjoyed even on days with severe outdoor air pollution.

Polluted air is expelled outside, and outdoor air is brought inside after passing through a four-stage clean filter system consisting of a pre-filter, electrostatic dust collection filter, deodorizing filter, and ultrafine dust collection filter that removes ultrafine dust particles as small as 0.01㎛. Additionally, equipped with a UV-LED module, it can reduce airborne bacteria by up to 99.8% and airborne viruses by up to 99.7% during air intake.

In particular, the Navien Clean Ventilation System saves up to 34% cooling energy compared to natural ventilation and operates 24 hours a day without burden, with monthly electricity bills under 10,000 KRW.

A Kyungdong Navien official said, "The Navien Clean Ventilation System, which manages the entire indoor air quality 24 hours a day, makes it possible to enjoy a healthy indoor life without worry even during seasons when opening windows is avoided due to high fine dust concentrations," adding, "It is a product that is gaining increasing consumer interest."
