[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Honam University announced on the 15th that Nguyen Huynh Ni, a Vietnamese international student in the Korean Language Department, and Xia Tianyu, a Chinese international student, were selected as GKS Outstanding Self-Financed Foreign Scholars by the National Institute for International Education.


These scholarship students receive a total scholarship of 5 million KRW, with 500,000 KRW paid monthly for 10 months from the National Institute for International Education.


Son Wan-i, Director of International Exchange at Honam University, said, “We are pleased that the two students who are diligently pursuing their studies at Honam University were selected as GKS Outstanding Self-Financed Foreign Scholars,” and added, “We hope that being selected as scholarship students will serve as an opportunity to enhance their academic achievements and motivate other international students to increase their academic enthusiasm.”


The National Institute for International Education is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Education that discovers and nurtures outstanding global talents domestically and internationally through the Korean government’s international scholarship program, and contributes to the global Korean language learning boom through the Korean Language Proficiency Test.
