[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] POSCO Steelion announced on the 15th that it has developed and completed the initial production of an eco-friendly urethane printed steel sheet that significantly reduces the emission of formaldehyde, a Group 1 carcinogen, for the first time in Korea.

Instead of polyester resin, which is mainly used in conventional printed steel sheets, urethane resin was applied, reducing formaldehyde emissions while maintaining the printed steel sheet's stain resistance, corrosion resistance, and workability.

POSCO Steelion commissioned testing to the global safety science company UL and explained that the formaldehyde emission level of the urethane printed steel sheet was below the standard value (9.0μg/m³), meeting the required criteria.

POSCO Steelion expects demand to increase in domestic and international markets following the initial production, in line with the trend emphasizing eco-friendliness and safety health.

A POSCO Steelion representative said, "Following eco-friendly products with functions such as non-combustibility, antibacterial properties, and high corrosion resistance, developing the urethane printed steel sheet has allowed us to have a diverse range of eco-friendly products, which will greatly help in pioneering new markets."
