[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] SolDoc, a non-face-to-face medical consultation platform, announced on the 15th that the average number of prescriptions this month increased by 317% compared to January this year.

Major non-face-to-face medical consultation platforms that started services at the early stage of the COVID-19 outbreak are currently showing rapid growth. The number of remote medical consultations, which was only 24,727 on February 2020 when remote consultations were first allowed, increased to a cumulative total of 3,523,451 in January.

Cases of home treatment patients who used non-face-to-face medical consultation platforms to receive treatment for COVID-19 related symptoms reusing the service to receive treatment for other diseases have also increased. In the case of SolDoc, the re-visit conversion rate, where users who had their first consultation through the service choose a second consultation, reaches the 80% range. Specifically, SolDoc explained that the proportion of patients choosing non-face-to-face consultations again is high in chronic disease areas requiring regular treatment and prescription medication, such as infant skin diseases and hair loss.

SolDoc plans to strengthen its technology, including artificial intelligence development, to provide higher-level services to users and partner medical institutions, while also promoting the social role of non-face-to-face medical consultations. Lee Ho-ik, CEO of SolDoc, said, “In some cases, non-face-to-face consultations increase treatment effectiveness more than face-to-face consultations,” adding, “As the benefits provided to medical consumers are digitized, consumers can proactively monitor and manage their health, which increases accessibility to medical services and can improve customer experience and medication management.”
