[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The project to reclaim land owned by Ulsan City will continue this year as well.
Ulsan City announced on the 15th that it will carry out the "Untransferred City-Owned Property Reclamation" project again this year, following last year.
On the 15th at 4 p.m., the city will hold the "2022 Untransferred City-Owned Property Reclamation Promotion Plan Report Meeting" in the situation room on the 7th floor of the main building to review the project promotion plan and measures of the dedicated land tracking team for this year.
The report meeting, chaired by Deputy Mayor Jang Su-wan, will be attended by directors of departments related to city-owned property reclamation to discuss effective directions for project promotion.
The city-owned property reclamation project involves discovering national or private lands within completed urban planning facilities such as roads, parks, and rivers, and transferring ownership to Ulsan City.
It targets sites where agreements such as free reversion, donation, or compensation were made in the past but ownership transfer was not completed, enabling proactive responses to prevent future ownership disputes or unjust enrichment lawsuits. This project protects the city's property rights.
Ulsan City established a basic plan for reclaiming untransferred city-owned properties and formed a dedicated team in March last year to actively promote the project.
Since the first year of the project in 2021, significant achievements have been made, discovering a total of 307 parcels of land worth approximately 119.6 billion KRW in untransferred city-owned properties.
They recovered 112 parcels worth 39 billion KRW in Ulsan Grand Park, 53 parcels worth 32.8 billion KRW along Jung-gu Shinganseon Road (Jangchun-ro), and 88 parcels worth 31.1 billion KRW on the arterial road of Ulsan Sports Park.
Additionally, they found 20 parcels worth 7.1 billion KRW from national abandoned river transfers, 25 parcels worth 5.5 billion KRW along Beonyeong-ro (Beonyeonggyo~Hanbisa Intersection), and 5 parcels worth 3.8 billion KRW at three locations including the Bangojin Water Quality Improvement Plant.
This year, Ulsan City will operate the dedicated team again to find hidden lands. The team, composed of about 70 members across seven teams covering rivers, roads, parks, sports facilities, and water supply and sewage, will engage in the project with a sense of mission as the "Guardian of Ulsan's Finances."
Deputy Mayor Jang Su-wan said, "Recently, lawsuits over ownership transfers between institutions have been increasing nationwide," and added, "This year as well, we will successfully carry out the 'Untransferred City-Owned Property Reclamation Project' to protect the city's administrative power and property rights, making it a notable example of proactive administration."
