The Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that they had booked the 20-year-old drunk driver, Mr. A, without detention on charges including obstruction of official duties causing injury.
According to the police, at around 11:17 p.m. on the 13th, a report was received about a suspected drunk driving vehicle near the KT intersection in Hadae-dong, Jinju City.
Police who responded to the scene briefly stopped the vehicle and attempted to conduct a breathalyzer test, but Mr. A fled.
During this process, one police officer who tried to stop him was injured after being hit by Mr. A’s vehicle side mirror.
Another officer attempted to block the route with a patrol car, but Mr. A rammed into the patrol car and escaped. As a result, two police officers inside the patrol car were also injured.
After fleeing about 15 km, Mr. A was eventually caught near the Sacheon rest area when the car became difficult to drive due to damage.
Mr. A’s blood alcohol concentration was found to be 0.26%, which is above the license cancellation level.
All three police officers sustained minor injuries.
